Whoever the player plays as will end up as a highly destructive one man or one woman army, slaughtering thousands of soldiers as well as defeating rival characters. The games have a large cast of playable characters who are divided into several groups, much like the original book. The soundtracks to the games are a fusion of traditional Chinese instrumentation and modern rock. The franchise has had a few spinoffs like Hokuto Musou (Hokuto no Ken with Dynasty Warriors style gameplay) and Dynasty Warriors: Gundam.
